...STORY

A fair question: why

It is obviously absolutely crazy idea to think about making a new shoe. Oneself. There are gazillions of shoes and brands. For a long time, I cannot find a shoe that fits and that makes mechanical sense, except two: very old Asics Trainer model and Adidas Adizero. But those are not daily shoes, that you can wear to the office or walk around. Those are good for 21 km and 42 km runs and anything in between. Not particularly cushioned but still, made for run. And that does not solve day-to-day need

Tough Start

I then gave up on browsing through shops and started to make drawings. I still had this sneaker idea in my head, so tried to make it similar. As I was getting really into it, I found some books, quite some people thinking about shoes on internet. And then I realised that the drawings is not enough that I need to see the product in 3D. I did sit down to a computer and started modelling. And measuring other shoes. And trying to understand how is the shoe actually constructed. Then the most daring moment came, when I took the model, the drawings to the real shoe factory and asked whether they can produce it. And we had a good conversation and I had to change the design and... realised how much more difficult it is. Cutting the story short: we agreed what to do and I had a prototype made. Yupeee!

What a surprise it was when the shoe, my shoe, the only one of that kind in the Universe got to my hands. Cool. I took it, I looked at it and test it. I tested the shoes around and they looked great. However, as it is with the proper prototype, there was more to do.

Back to Work

I had to go back to the drawing table, I had measure, re-measure re-think, consult. It was great fun. Then we discussed and then a new last had to be made and then fine tuned and prototype 2 arrived. And it was almost there. Then next round the last round. The challenge was all in the shape. The shape is just so important. Agreed, done.

Production

That view is the view from the factory. And in the factory, they made the shoe that is the Lofé Shoe. That shoe has a lot of relatives and cousines - in the factory, but it is unique. And it is the right shoe to wear. Every day.

Future Projects

What next? The work is never done. The materials never finite. The options endless. The colour schemes - varied. There will be more types of Modell 21. But there, maybe, will be a Modell 30 - that could look like this. Or similar.
